Welcome

Bunka dolls were famous between Taishô (1912-1926 ) and early Shôwa period ( 1927-1937 ). Traditional ones always wear red as it was thought to protect children from any misfortune.

The Bunka doll tutorial provided here is not my own. I claim no rights to it whatsoever. They were taken from Shaomei2117's blog. Her blog was recently taken down so I decided to provide the same information here since there are so few places online that have as detailed tutorials as this. I hope that other people find this as helpful as I did and if Shaomei ever sees this I would like to say a huge thank you to her! I'm finally able to make the dolls I've been admiring for so long. :)

I will also be posting links to other Bunka tutorials that I come across and links to peoples galleries where they show off the ones they have made. If you would like to have your own doll shown here just drop me a comment and let me know. :) This blog will only be for these dolls, I have another blog for all other crafts.
